There are so many pictures and so many beautiful memories but this photo captures one of my favorites. I am one of Pastor Dave’s nieces. Some know and some don’t that I have a father who is not a believer and this has lead him to not be active or present in my life since my parents divorced. My grandfather (Pastor Dave’s dad) really stepped up to provide what I was missing. My uncle Dave also did this. As I grew up, my uncle Dave and aunt Kathy had been present for milestones in my life such as my first college graduation. They will call me and sing for every single birthday. As a kid, they would take me shopping (maybe they’re to blame for my shopping problems LOL) and to all different experiences (baseball games, museums, historical landmarks etc.) Things I will never ever forget.
I have called on my uncle for spiritual guidance, life advice, prayer. While processing everything this week, I was telling my mom how uncle Dave is who I would call for everything and I said to her “Who am I going to call?” And she replied with “God.” I believe that uncle Dave would say this very same thing.
Despite an absentee father, my grandpa and my uncle have supplied what I needed through being men of God. Uncle Dave has shown me what it means to be man of God.
His prayers have covered me through the most awful of moments to the best of moments in my life.
He has played a major role in the woman I am today and the Christian I am today and for that I am forever grateful.
I love you so much, Uncle Dave. I hope you in the impact you have made in my life and so many others. I picture Jesus saying “Well done, my good and faithful servant!”
Love you, Amina
